Roger Baker

Roger Baker describes himself as a local rural artist and hang glider pilot. His art follows a unique path across one
of the widest spectrums imaginable. At one end, he has airbrushed motorcycle tanks and painted “serious toys” from Hot Rods to racing boats. At the other he became world famous for mowing vast portraits into a field well known to Shawangunk hang gliders near Ellenville. His 1.5 million square foot Elvis Presley became a phenomenon across the country and the world. He followed that with Einstein, Jimi Hendrix and Indian Larry, a motorcyle legend.

For at least twenty years, Baker lived the life of an itinerant artist, roaming the USA in a VW bus with a hang glider strapped to the roof and a sign painter’s box attached. Fire Departments, corporate truck convoys, restaurants and even small newspapers have all been recipients of his genius. In the mid 1990s he and his wife Carolyn settled down on the Shawangunk Ridge where they live with their two dogs and three cats.

The Barlyhopper:

Shouldn’t a town with a legendary two-headed trout and known as Trout Town USA also have a legendary fishing fly? The Barley Hopper is a natural enticer for our local fish as it is made from Barley & Hops! Shouldn’t the fish try and enjoy what we have enjoyed for ages? Just think about the fish looking up at the surface and seeing the light barley hopper floating on top and the aroma of our favorite Ale or Lager lingering as well. This fly — best fished when the water warms up — will become legendary in due time… look for them at your favorite fly shop — and also be on the look out for Barley Hopper related events! Developed by our friend Roger Baker. He is probably out right now trying to land a Rainbow!

Patricia and Jack Yelle

Morning Star Creations is a love affair between husband and wife artists, Jack and Patricia Yelle. Jack, a retired illustrator and advertising executive, has been painting and teaching watercolors for over thirty years. His love of fly fishing brought him to Roscoe, NY where he found the ultimate place of woods and water… enough to satisfy his need for subject matter, forever. Patricia has enjoyed painting in many media – pastel through acrylics. Her real love, however, is craft and she has succeeded marvelously in creating unique designs for the gallery. Her favorite is working with pressed flowers. This is a most rewarding art form, as she both grows the various flowers and creates the final designs, which are then framed under glass. Morning Star Creations offers a fine selection of original watercolors, limited edition lithographs and open edition prints. Subjects range from fly fishing to marine and rural subjects. Our visitors select from major pieces of high craft work, to small, very affordable hospitality gifts. In addition, We welcome custom commissions.
